Music has been a part of my life since before I was born. I grew up in the most musical family in the neighborhood. My mother - a piano teacher, raised and home-educated us while supplementing my father’s income in our single-income household. She began singing to me and teaching me about music while I was still in the womb. As soon as I could talk (and even before I could talk properly), I was singing. At around 8 years old, she put me in church choir, where I remained for many years. I attribute the roots of my love for performance to these years of my life.

Although my mom tried her best to teach me piano, I never fully connected with it. That all changed the day my sister showed me a few guitar chords. I was instantly hooked. Somehow, I always found many hours in the day to practice, and being home-educated meant I could even study guitar with a tutor for school credit. My first performance accompanying myself was at a Guitar Center in Los Angeles where I performed a very sloppy rendition of “Slow Dancing in A Burning Room” by John Mayer - and I haven’t stopped since.

Everything shifted during my junior year of high school, when I began attending public school. There, I discovered a fantastic community in the choir and theater programs that further deepened my love for performing. In theater, I earned the John Raitt Awards for Youth Broadway Artist Alliance Scholarship for my performance as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. That award sent me to New York on a full-ride scholarship to study with Broadway actors and music professionals.

Since then, I’ve been writing performing and recording original music - both with my rock band, The Spinouts, and in my sibling acoustic duo, Sunflower Academy, which specializes in elegant live acoustic music for weddings, private events, and special occasions across Southern California. Whether I’m performing as a solo singer and guitarist, or part of a full band, music is what I eat, sleep, and breathe. I’ve been performing longer than I even knew what the word “performing” meant, and I bring that same passion to every wedding, corporate event, and live performance I’m part of.

My Journey in music

While music is the biggest part of my life, when the performance is over and I set down my guitar, I have plenty of other passions. You’ll often find me at the gym lifting weights, studying the stock and crypto markets, or diving headfirst into conversations about the mysteries of life with good friends. I love exploring new foods and spending time with great people. And fair warning - if you ever challenge me to a game of bowling, prepare to be humbled.

If you’re planning a wedding or event, I’d love to get to know you and find out how I can help make it even more special.
